Welcome To Zebra Australia
Zebra Australia needs your input. If you have had good, bad or interesting experiences with a builder, architect, subcontractor, building inspector, whoever, just tell us! Other people doing– or contemplating doing – what you are doing or have done need to know!
PURPOSE STATEMENT: ZEBRA AUSTRALIA
Context:Anecdotal reports indicate that the levels of anguish suffered by people when they are disadvantaged by builders and related tradespeople, it appears that Australian/Tasmanian protection for property owners from builder errors and malfeasance are inadequate. The effect is to destroy confidence in the building industry, disadvantage consumers (homebuilders & renovators), create serious economic disadvantage and lower confidence in consumer protection systems.
Purposes: Zebra Australia is a consumer information service that collects building and trade related customer experiences in order to: • Identify any patterns of dysfunction and/or their causes in order to devise practical solutions • Inform consumers of risks and opportunities to help them make informed choices • Assist the industry to improve its quality of service from customer feedback • Assist regulators and others to focus their efforts on practical consumer protection
Strategies: To achieve its purposes Zebra Australia intends to: • Operate a website to collect and distribute customer experiences • Inform industry members and others of customer problems • Inform regulators and others of lessons learned • Provide practical advice, and the means, for consumers to protect themselves • Advocate superior building service supported by effective consumer protection
Evidence: Zebra Australia would like to see: • A practical insurance scheme that provided real protection for building services consumers • Effective regulation that enforced high quality standards from building practicioners • Transparent and clear process to assure high standards
Please vote for your building contractor or service provider and give them a star rating
Zebra is concerned about the number of homebuilders and renovators who are being poorly served by the industry and who are largely unprotected from its sometimes high levels of incompetence, its all too frequent negligent and suspicious behaviours, its poor service delivery and its excesses in general. All of these things cost homeowners dearly!
